A beautiful gathering of migrating Cedar Waxwings return to North Carolina for the springtime.
A beautiful image of seven yellow breasted cedar waxwings against a contrasting blue grey sky
which accents their beautiful yellow breasts! They are not usually long-distance migrants, but move nomadically outside their breeding season. They feed on fruits, sap, buds, flowers and insects. They catch their insects in mid air. They will usually nest near water. The female will incubate the eggs while the male brings her food while nesting. Both sexes help rear their young. A popular bird which appears in many artworks and literature with their beautiful soft silky plumage.
