The magnificent California Coastal Redwood can be found in Wilson, North Carolina!!! Yes, you read that right, in the small town of Wilson. Even though it is native to the Pacific Northwest, in 1942 W.T. Lamm, a Wilson resident and cotton magnate, decided to plant one in his own backyard. The tree surprisingly flourished and Lamm began sharing cuttings with his family and friends. So today, standing tall among Wilson's indigenous oaks and magnolias are a handful of genuine California coastal redwood trees.The giant redwoods of Wilson are an astounding surprise to the small town visitors who relish in knowing they are able to view this wonderful and beautiful part of history...all started by the planting of a single seed.
