The beauty found within "Our Lady of the Pillar Cathedral" located in the second largest city of Costa Rica is astounding! In the quaint city of Alajuela, her beautiful pastel lighting dances through the cathedral like a magic symphony orchestrating music straight from the Heavens above. One can feel the holiness found within this cathedral as it is truly magnificent! It is a temple that follows Roman or Latin rite and is the mother of the Diocese of Alajuela which was created in 1921. The current building has it's origins in a small chapel built in 1782 not far from it's current location. Construction was delayed because of war until 1863. The outside grounds surrounding this cathedral are enhanced by stunning manicured gardens in the main square and guarded by beautiful statues of Angels and Saints.
