Description
PANAMA EXPRESS by KAREN WILES
The magic of the Panama Canal is immensely present in the "Panama Express" Artwork. In one beautiful shipping moment I was able to capture the multiple enormous ships as they lined up for the canal entry and exits. A great accomplishment for a very hard camera shot to capture as many ships in one image....
It takes approximately fifteen hours to traverse the canal through its three sets of locks (about half the time is spent waiting due to traffic). Ships passing through the canal from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean actually move from the northwest to the southeast, due to the east-west orientation of the Isthmus of Panama.
