The Mendota river was a favorite Sunday afternoon childhood destination for many families in the surrounding southwestern Virginia area at the foothills of the Clinch Mountains in the Appalachians. It was the after Church picnic place to be, one of excitement, fun and a one on one experience with Mother Nature that a child refuses to forget. At least this child...a very happy place I will always remember...This particular image was shot form the middle of the swing bridge that crosses this magnificent rolling river.
When you desire the journey's end to be in the same place as the journey begins visit the fantastic "horshoe Bend" in Southwestern Virginia. Located at the foothills of the Clinch Mountains, floating the N. Fork of the Holston river in Mendota, Virginia is the perfect Tom Sawyer childhood dream...
