Description
HURRICANE JOAQUIN by KAREN WILES
The coastal shores of North Topsail Island of North Carolina brace for the arrival of Hurricane Joaquin off it's distant shores. The full moon eclipse this month followed by an unusual blood moon brought unusually high tides to the shores and earlier storms soaked the region days before Hurricane Joaquin passed by the coast of North Carolina. All of these circumstances placed in sequence together brought heavy flood waters to the regions of South Carolina and North Carolina. The Carolina coastal regions were still lucky to have dodged a head on collision with yet another devastating Hurricane, as this one brought torrential flooding and might have been so much worse if a direct landfall hit had occurred.
